Slow Reading Dinner

Reading Diners at a UPB Slow Reading Dinner

Please join us for a University Press Books tradition!

Friends! Please join us this Tuesday evening for our monthly Slow Reading Dinner, around UPB's Great Table (or in our garden patio, weather permitting). This is a wonderful evening of good food, fine wine, surprising words, and new friends.

We ask that everyone bring a poem, a treasured paragraph, or any combination of words that you love—words that must be read carefully, and savored slowly..

The menu, prepared by chef Erick Balbuena, reflects the abundance of our local farms and gardens, and the rich flavors of the season..

The event is hosted by Bill McClung, Martin Holden, and Phyllis Shaefer..

$45 per person, wine, tax, and gratuity included ($20 for students and starving artists)..

Please RSVP at the UPB front counter, or by calling (510) 548-0585 or emailing co-host Martin Holden..

Slow Reading Dinners take place every third Tuesday of the month from 6-8pm..

Event date:
Tuesday, September 19, 2017 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Event address:

From 1974, University Press Books has stoked the blaze of well over ten thousand minds on fire, carrying new scholarship published by the great university presses in the English-speaking world.

Since our founding, we've added quality fiction and creative non-fiction to our selection, without drfiting from our mission to showcase top new texts introduced by university presses.

Order from us. Visit us. Let well-wrought words churn and burn within.
